SUMMARY:Solas
DESCRIPTION:Solas stepped out onto the world stage in 1996\, when Irish music was poised at the brink of a new era of innovation and popularity. The five young musicians who made up the band at the time had no idea that they were to be a galvanizing element in the Irish music scene – a lightening rod of talent and inspiration that set new standards for musicianship\, repertoire\, and intensity. “We thought we were doing a one-off project\,” said multi-instrumentalist Seamus Egan with a smile\, ten years after the fact. Egan and fiddler Winifred Horan have remained with the band through a decade that has encompassed seven albums and endless international touring and critical acclaim. \n“The finest Celtic ensemble this country has ever produced…combines a deep empathy for the wild grace of traditional music with a savvy understanding of modern arrangement\, creating a remarkably contemporary and timeless sound that led them immediately to Celtic superstardom…uniquely fluid\, warmly melodic and robust.” – The Boston Globe \nAfter an 8-year hiatus\, the band announced a 30th anniversary reunion tour starting in 2025\, with a stop in Hamilton\, MT! \n

SUMMARY:Rising Appalachia
DESCRIPTION:As world travelers for nearly two decades\, Chloe and Leah Smith have merged multiple global music influences with their own southern roots to create the international phenomenon that is Rising Appalachia \nRising Appalachia established its international fan base due to relentless touring\, tireless activism\, and no small degree of stubborn independence. Remarkably the band has built its legion of listeners independently — a self-made success story that has led to major festival appearances and sold-out shows at venues across the country. Rising Appalachia has toured British Columbia by sailboat\, traversed the U.S. and Europe by train\, and engaged in immersive cultural exchange programs in Bulgaria\, Ireland\, Southern Italy\, Central and South America – not to mention the countless miles in a van. Tour highlights include: Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco; Music Hall Williamsburg in Brooklyn\, New York; Boulder Theatre in Boulder\, Colorado; and the Showbox in Seattle\, Washington. The band consistently sells between 400 and 1500 tickets wherever they play\, a testament to their loyal fan base. \nLeah and Chloe consider performing to be just one component of a greater overall vision – one that includes advocating for social justice\, racial justice\, environmental justice\, and Indigenous rights. \n“Rising Appalachia has come out of this idea that we can take these traditions of southern music – that we’ve been born and raised with – and we can rise out of them\, creating all these different bridges between cultures and stories to make them feel alive.” Leah says. “Our music has its foundation in heritage and tradition\, but we’re creating a music that also feels reflective of the times right now. That’s always been our work.” \n

SUMMARY:Las Guaracheras
DESCRIPTION:The all-female sextet Las Guaracheras was born in 2017 in the city of Cali\, Colombia\, an initiative of the percussionists Laura Linares and Mónica Castro. As lovers of the son (“sound” in Spanish) and guaracha genres\, they decided to form an instrumental group in which they could express all their intense musical feelings while\, at the same time\, preserving the essence of guaracha. Guarachas were played and sung in musical theatres and working class dance salons during the late 19th and early 20th century. The ensemble’s cultural and artistic objective is to uplift the female voice within Afro-Latin music and build a more inclusive\, diverse\, and respectful cultural space for all. \nWith improvisation on each instrument as its driving force\, Las Gauracheras evoke the sound of the great sextets of history. The vibraphone has a special place in the band\, since the women have long been fascinated by its legacy and wanted to incorporate it into an updated version of salsa. Las Guaracheras embody the best and most visionary female orchestras of Caleña and Colombian salsa. Above all\, the cultural and artistic objective of the ensemble is to elevate the female voice in Afro-Latin music and thus build a more inclusive\, diverse and respectful cultural space where we all fit. \n

SUMMARY:Shemekia Copeland
DESCRIPTION:Shemekia Copeland possesses one of the most instantly recognizable and deeply soulful roots music voices of our time. The multi-GRAMMY nominee is beloved and honored worldwide for the fearlessness\, honesty and humor of her revelatory songs\, as well as for her winning\, engaging personality. The Chicago Tribune says\, “Copeland is the greatest female blues vocalist working today. There’s no mistaking the majesty of her instrument\, nor the ferocity of her delivery.” \nOn Copeland’s new album\, Blame It On Eve\, the songs all hit hard\, with jaw-dropping performances that instantly take hold and command repeated listening. “There’s serious business on the new album\,” Copeland says\, “but there are a lot of smiles here too\, a lot of joyous moments. It’s my blues for sure but it’s the brighter side. Issues are always important to me\, but so is rocking\, dancing and just having fun. And that’s something we all can all agree on.” \nBlame It On Eve was recorded in Nashville and produced by instrumentalist/songwriter Will Kimbrough (who also produced her previous three albums). It features 12 new songs that tackle subjects as important as a woman’s right to choose and climate change\, but also leaves space for Copeland to have fun and unwind. From the autobiographical\, rocking blues boogie Tough Mother to the anthemic title track’s good-humored but serious focus on reproductive self-determination to the happy hour of Wine O’Clock\, Copeland is inspired throughout. \nFamed multi-instrumentalist Jerry Douglas adds his dobro to the fascinating\, true story of Tee Tot Payne\, the obscure early 20th century Alabama musician who taught Hank Williams the blues\, and sacred steel player DaShawn Hickman brings his magic to the feisty and uplifting Tell The Devil. Shemekia’s friend\, roots-rocker Alejandro Escovedo\, joins in on the anguished\, celestial query Is There Anybody Up There?. On the sad lover’s tale Belle Sorciere\, Copeland sings the chorus in French\, with the haunting melody composed by Pascal Danae of the Paris-based band Delgres (who were recently featured on the cover of Rolling Stone France). Copeland’s blistering\, deep blues delivery of Down On Bended Knee—by her late father\, the great bluesman Johnny Copeland—sets up the thought-provoking closer Heaven Help Us All\, a song originally made famous first by Stevie Wonder and later by Ray Charles. Taken as a whole\, the passionate\, charismatic\, joyous and at times confrontational Blame It On Eve is bound to become among the most celebrated releases of Copeland’s impressive\, still-unfolding career. \nBorn and raised in Harlem in 1979\, Shemekia Copeland first stepped on stage with her famous father at New York’s Cotton Club when she was eight. Upon release of her Alligator Records debut Turn The Heat Up in 1998 when she was only 18\, Copeland instantly became a blues and R&B force to be reckoned with. The New York Times and CNN\, among many others\, praised her talent\, larger-than-life personality\, dynamic\, authoritative voice and true star power. With each subsequent release\, Copeland’s music continued to evolve. From her debut through 2005’s The Soul Truth\, Shemekia earned eight Blues Music Awards and a host of Living Blues Awards. 2000’s Wicked received the first of her five GRAMMY nominations. After two successful releases on Telarc (including 2012’s GRAMMY-nominated 33 1/3)\, Copeland returned to Alligator Records in 2015 with the GRAMMY-nominated\, Blues Music Award-winning Outskirts Of Love\, melding blues with more rootsy\, Americana sounds. \nWith 2018’s America’s Child\, Copeland brought out the first of her celebrated trilogy of albums concerning the state of the world\, sung from her perspective as a young\, Black woman and new mother. MOJO magazine named America’s Child the #1 blues release of 2018. It won both the Blues Music Award and the Living Blues Award for Album Of The Year.  In addition to earning a GRAMMY Award nomination\, Copeland’s groundbreaking 2020 follow-up\, Uncivil War\, was named the 2020 Blues Album Of The Year by DownBeat\, MOJO and Living Blues magazines. “Shemekia Copeland is a powerhouse\,” said Rolling Stone. “She can do no wrong.” She received her fifth GRAMMY nomination for Done Come Too Far\, which closed the trilogy with a searing set of truth-to-power\, rock and Hill Country blues-fueled songs. “Shemekia Copeland is an antidote to artifice\,” said The Philadelphia Inquirer. “She is a commanding presence\, a powerhouse vocalist delivering the truth.” \nCopeland has performed thousands of gigs at clubs\, festivals and concert halls all over the world\, and has appeared in films\, on national television\, NPR\, and has been the subject of major feature stories in hundreds of magazines\, newspapers and internet publications. She’s sung with Bonnie Raitt\, Keith Richards\, Carlos Santana\, Dr. John\, James Cotton and many others\, and has shared a bill with The Rolling Stones. She entertained U.S. troops in Iraq and Kuwait in 2008\, a trip she says\, “that opened my eyes to the larger world around me and my place in it.” In 2012\, she performed with B.B. King\, Mick Jagger\, Buddy Guy\, Trombone Shorty\, Gary Clark\, Jr. and others at the White House for President and Mrs. Obama. She has showcased on PBS’s Austin City Limits\, was featured in a six-minute story on the PBS News Hour and was the subject of a major Washington Post Sunday magazine piece. In April 2022\, she performed at the United Nations General Assembly Hall to a worldwide audience of millions as part of International Jazz Day celebrations. In 2023\, Copeland guested on the GRAMMY Award-winning compilation album\, Basie Swings The Blues\, on the Candid label. She continues to receive regular radio airplay on stations all over the globe. Additionally\, Copeland hosts her own popular daily blues radio show on SiriusXM’s Bluesville. \nForbes declared\, “Shemekia is fearless\, honest and hopeful…she holds back nothing as she delivers hard-hitting musical truths.” The late John Prine paid her a huge compliment when he said\, “She simply doesn’t sound like anybody else.” And none other than Copeland’s friend\, the legendary Mavis Staples\, announced\, “I am so happy Shemekia is delivering these songs that the world needs to hear. Her voice is strong and soulful\, and her message comes from her heart.” \nWith Blame It On Eve\, Copeland embarks on what she calls “a vacation from all the heaviness.” Blame It On Eve contains plenty of Copeland’s trademark bold and courageous songs\, but here Copeland is also looking to unplug from the weight of world. “My last three records have dealt with breaking news\,” she says. “This record is for people like me who want a break from the news.” \n  \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:James McMurtry
DESCRIPTION:James McMurtry was raised mostly in Leesburg\, Virginia. He began performing in his teens\, writing bits and pieces\, and started performing his own songs at a downtown beer garden while studying at the University of Arizona in Tucson. After traveling to Alaska and playing a few gigs\, he returned to Texas and his father’s (Larry McMurtry) “little bitty ranch house crammed with 10\,000 books”. After a time\, he left for San Antonio\, where he worked as a house painter\, actor\, bartender\, and sometimes singer\, performing at writers’ nights and open-mic events. \nIn 1987\, McMurtry entered the Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk songwriter contest\, where he became one of six winners that year. Around this time he sent a demo tape to John Mellencamp. Mellencamp subsequently served as co-producer on McMurtry’s debut album\, Too Long in the Wasteland\, released in 1989. McMurtry also appeared on the soundtrack of the film Falling from Grace\, working with Mellencamp\, John Prine\, Joe Ely and Dwight Yoakam in a “supergroup” called Buzzin’ Cousins. \nMcMurtry went on to release a total of 13 albums to date. His latest\, The Horses and the Hounds\, was released to critical acclaim and earned an Americana Music Award nomination. \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:GAELIC STORM
DESCRIPTION:[vc_video link=’https://youtu.be/hrpTIQOKGuY’] \nIt’s hard to imagine a band just coming into their own after 20 years of success\, but that’s exactly what makes a true anomaly. GAELIC STORM\, the multi-national Celtic music juggernaut grows stronger with each live performance\, and as you can imagine\, after two decades and over 2\,000 shows\, are a true force to be reckoned with. With their latest release\, Go Climb a Tree\, their music has never sounded more representative of themselves as musicians and as live performers. \nThe band attributes their continued success to their fanatic audience\, and it’s a well-diversified crowd for sure. The country-music folks adore the storytelling\, the bluegrass-heads love the instrumentals\, Celtic fans love their devotion to tradition\, and the rockers simply relish the passion they play their instruments with. Each band member\, in their own way\, expresses a deep gratitude for their fans\, but it’s best summed up in the words of Patrick Murphy: “The fans are the ones that have given us this life. We’re here for them.” \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:Naturally 7
DESCRIPTION:“A capella group” so vastly underplays what Naturally 7 creates onstage that they had to coin a phrase – “Vocal Play” – to more accurately depict what they do. Naturally 7 is more than a tightly orchestrated collection of great singers. They transform their voices into actual human instruments\, effortlessly producing music of any genre. Their vocal choreography is so perfectly interwoven that they compelled the musical maestro himself\, Quincy Jones\, to declare that “Naturally 7 is the future of vocal music!!” Their sonic mastery was on full display in a series of unforgettable performances on “The World’s Best” TV show\, which premiered on CBS immediately following Super Bowl LIII. Hosted by James Corden\, Naturally 7 reigned supreme as the world’s “Best Group”\, and cemented their singular status among the planet’s musical elite. For the members of Naturally 7 – “Ricky“ Lee Ricardo Cort\, Rod Eldridge\, Kelvin “Kelz“ Mitchell\, Sean Simmonds\, Dwight Stewart\, Roger Thomas\, and Warren Thomas – it’s a privilege to do what they love and bring so much joy to the hearts of their fans each and every performance. SUMMARY:Sona Jobarteh
DESCRIPTION:[vc_video link=’https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSD_amb-l9Q’] \n  \nThe spirit of Sona Jobarteh’s musical work stands on the mighty shoulders of the West African griot musician and storyteller traditions; she is a living archive of the Gambian people. With one ear on the family’s historic reputation\, one on the all-important future legacy and her heart in both places\, she is preparing a place today for the next generation. Her singing and Kora playing while fronting her band spring directly from this tradition. The extent of her recognition today is evidenced by more than 23 million watchers on YouTube and considerable numbers on other digital platforms. All this despite singing in her native languages and keeping to her own path within the music industry. \nSona Jobarteh’s live performances and speaking engagements zoomed to 52 performances with 12 sell outs during 2019\, and post-pandemic to 67 in 2022\, with 15 USA dates ranging from the Hollywood Bowl to Symphony Space in NYC. Sona has performed sold-out concerts at The Barbican in London\, in Cologne’s Philharmonie\, and at the Seine Musicale in Paris. Her band performances are under-pinned by her skills as a composer arising from early days at London’s RCM and Purcell School of Music. She scored the film Motherland in 2010\, and by 2022 was scoring some of the Hollywood blockbuster Beast\, co-writing a track on LL Cool J’s latest with Q Tip\, and filming several of her live shows for CBS’ 60 Minutes. \nDon’t miss this rare opportunity to experience in person the beautiful artistry of this multi-instrumentalist and singer. \n  \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:James Sewell Ballet
DESCRIPTION:[vc_video link=’https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKfZuBvZkhQ’] \n  \nJames Sewell Ballet was founded in New York City by James Sewell and Sally Rousse and brought to Minnesota in 1993. Combining their expertise\, vision and chutzpah they envisioned a close-knit company of dance artists willing to both challenge their physical limits and expand their notions about ballet. Over three decades later\, critically acclaimed JSB performances move and delight audiences across the country. The embodiment of the original vision is a professional company of dancers performing innovative work that explores the technical boundaries of ballet. \nSewell and Rousse together reimagined what a contemporary ballet company could look like: a chamber dance troupe that blends the elegance of classical ballet\, the freedom of modern dance\, and the can-do spirit of vaudeville. Since its founding\, the company has greatly expanded its touring. Highlights included performances at New York’s Joyce Theater\, tours to Iceland\, Canada\, and Bermuda\, and lengthy residencies in Utah and New Hampshire. \n  \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:The Queen's Cartoonists
DESCRIPTION:[vc_video link=’https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSEX7bvFYFQ’] \n  \nThe Queen’s Cartoonists perform music from cartoons! Pulling from over 100 years of animation from around the world\, The Queen’s Cartoonists bring animated films to life\, perfectly synchronizing their performances with the films projected on stage. The band matches the energy of the cartoons\, leading the audience through a world of virtuosic musicianship\, multi-instrumental mayhem\, and comedy. \nProjections of animated films dazzle the audience\, while the band re-creates original soundtracks note-for-note\, or writes their own fresh compositions to modern pieces\, all the while breathing new life into two uniquely American forms of art: jazz and animation. Tying everything together is the TQC brand of comedy – anecdotes about the cartoons and their composers\, stream-of-consciousness humor\, and elements of a musical circus. \nWatch your favorite classic cartoon characters interact with the musicians on stage\, and expect the unexpected from the Golden Age of Animation\, cult cartoon classics\, and modern animated films. This performance is sure to entertain audience members of all ages – from 2 to 102! \n  \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:Victor Wooten & The Wooten Brothers Sweat Tour
DESCRIPTION:[vc_video link=’https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv7-kY8dytw’] \nThe Wooten Brothers are Victor (bass guitar/vocals)\, Joseph (keyboards/vocals)\, Roy (percussion/vocals)\, and Regi (guitars/vocals). For over four decades\, the Wooten Brothers have been recognized as some of the most innovative musicians in existence and are collectively known as one of the most talented and dynamic band of brothers the world has ever known. \nSince they were young\, the brothers have been a musical tour-de-force redefining the limits of jazz\, funk\, soul\, R&B\, rock\, and bluegrass. They have shared stages with the likes of Curtis Mayfield\, The Temptations\, Ramsey Lewis\, Stephanie Mills\, War\, and other artists. In the mid 80’s\, the brothers released an album as The Wootens for Clive Davis’ Arista Records. \nVictor Wooten\, a five-time Grammy Award-winning artist\, has graced the cover of Bass Player Magazine five times. A founding member of the group Béla Fleck and the Flecktones\, Victor is recognized as one of the greatest living bassists today\, and was named one of the “Top ten bassists of all time” by Rolling Stone magazine. \nJoseph Wooten has a dizzying list of talents that is impressive even by the Wooten clan’s standards. Currently the keyboardist for the Steve Miller Band (since 1993)\, he is also a composer\, orchestrator\, motivational speaker\, and has been showcased as an amazing vocalist since he was a child. He has collaborated with the likes of Whitney Houston and Kenny G\, and when not touring with Miller\, leads his own band and performs with Freedom Sings. \nRoy “Futureman” Wooten\, also a five-time Grammy Award winner\, is best known for his masterful drumming and percussion skills and is a founding member Béla Fleck and the Flecktones. Roy is mostly known for his frenzied\, inimitable on-stage performances heightened by his surreal choice of instruments: his trademark inventions “The Drumitar” and “RoyEl” keyboard. His impressive solo career and “Black Mozart” projects span the genres of classical\, jazz\, soul\, gospel\, and spoken word. \nRegi Wooten’s signature guitar style of chording\, slapping\, tapping and frenzied strumming has earned him world-wide notoriety and comparisons to Jimi Hendrix\, Frank Zappa and Chuck Berry. In recent years\, Regi has performed with many artists including the legendary Ginger Baker. Regi\, known worldwide as “The Teacher\,” currently teaches music in Nashville\, TN\, and has taught many notable musicians. \nTogether\, The Wooten Brothers bring an uncanny level of experience\, originality\, and musical expertise to the stage. Their shows are a high-energy\, super-funky\, artistic blend of styles including original songs and classics. In short\, these brothers are the real deal and their shows are not to be missed. \n  \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:Suzy Bogguss
DESCRIPTION:[vc_video link=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_-Youcc0g4′] \nDuring the creative explosion that was country music in the 1990s\, Suzy Bogguss sold 4 million records with sparkling radio hits like “Outbound Plane\,” “Someday Soon\,” “Letting Go\,” “Drive South\,” and “Hey Cinderella.” But you can’t peg Suzy that easily. \nIn the midst of her country popularity\, she took time off to make an album of duets with the legendary Chet Atkins. In 2003 she made an album of modern swing music with Ray Benson of Asleep At The Wheel. An album of original music in 2007 landed Suzy at number 4 on the jazz charts. Her folk music roots showed through in her frequent appearances on public radio’s A Prairie Home Companion\, in the Grammy she earned for her work on Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs of Stephen Foster\, and in her critically acclaimed album and book project from 2011\, American Folk Songbook. In 2014\, she released Lucky\, a collection of songs written by Merle Haggard and interpreted through Suzy’s crystal vocals from the female point of view. Her latest offering\, Aces Redux\, is a re-recording of her platinum selling album Aces\, produced by Suzy with fresh arrangements and her signature sparkling vocals. She continues to tour the world\, on her own and with fellow country radio divas Terri Clark and Pam Tills as “Chicks With Hits.” \nSo yes\, you can call her a country singer if you want\, but really that’s just the beginning. \n  \nBUY TICKETS
